Daily Devotional. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 2 Peter 2:18-21. Let’s be clear here, these people are not Christians who through sin, again, lose their Salvation and fall back into the world and eternal damnation, NO, NOT AT ALL. These are people in sin who have heard the Good News, worked in their own power to give up sin and walk away from it and even try to live a good life as the Bible teaches. ALL ON THEIR OWN STRENGTH. And for a while they look like, (on the surface), that they really may have changed. This is where Satan “backed off” a little so this person actually looks “Christian”. Then Satan comes back, worse than ever, to entice through all the person’s weaknesses whatever it takes to “take him down”, and this time, keep him down. Have no doubts here, this person never was a Christian following the leading of the Holy Spirit in any way shape, form or fashion. It was all show, and no substance. If Satan himself can appear as an angel of light, he can sure make a deceived person look like a Believer, BUT ONLY ON THE SURFACE. Here’s where the Gifts of Discernment, Word of Wisdom and Word of Knowledge can help a Believer understand what’s really going on. Like the teen who’s been a Christian all through high school and at collage goes wild in sin. MAYBE, they never were saved to never, Be Blessed.
