Daily Devotional. FOR THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2. We have 2 types of law going on here. The Old Testament is full of laws that man was not able to keep, no matter how hard he tried. These laws were actually designed to show man no matter how hard he tried, HE COULDN’T KEEP THEM, and because he couldn’t keep them, he would die. That law is the Law of Sin. The Law of the Spirit is the Law I want to touch on. It is not a law of legalism, like the first law, it is a Law of Grace that can only be followed and kept, THROUGH CHRIST. Jesus extends to us all His Mercy and Grace unto Salvation as we look to Him to help us live a Righteous Life. Again, through Grace. The Law of the Spirit is NOT, thou shalt or thou shalt not, but, I love You Lord, help me to walk in your Law of Love that I may walk in and with You straight into the Heavenly’s. Again, you don’t look at the Law to try to live, YOU LOOK AT CHRIST WHO IS THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE. Now, when He says, “Thou shalt not”, it’s like a Dad telling his little boy, “Thou shalt not play on the interstate in traffic”. No one looks at that as legalism but as a Dad who loves his little one. This is how we are to look at all “His Laws” in the New Testament, THROUGH THOSE EYES OF LOVE. For example, when He says to stay away from a certain lifestyle, it’s because He Knows that lifestyle will lead to Death, and away from Life. Again, it’s impossible to legalistically “Love thy neighbor”. Only in and through Christ can you Love even a most miserable wretched hateful lost sinner, like you used to be. Don’t get hung up in “The Law”, get hung up in Christ and let Him lead you through Life, and He will walk you His Law of the Spirit. There, you will, Be Blessed.
