Daily Devotional- MORNINGTIME 4608

Daily Devotional. And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, (a Persian deputy or governor), and Ezra the Priest, the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is Holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, WHEN THEY HEARD THE WORDS OF THE LAW. Nehemiah 8:9. There’s a lot going on here. We have Nehemiah, a government official, publicly declaring this event to be so important, it’s even a Holy Day before the Lord. Ezra, the Priest, the Church Official read the Law to all the people. And the Levites were there teaching all the people, the congregation, what the Law said and what the Law meant to the people in their daily lives. They brought The Holy from the Lord and made it relevant and understandable to the people. And we have the people who were all weeping as they heard The Law read to them. They wept because they Understood that the Law was a Love Letter from the Lord to help them stay inside the “Safety Fence” designed to keep them Safe from worldliness and depravity AND from the Anger of the Lord against all who wander outside the safety of the Law. The people also wept because they Understood they had broken The Law and were worthy of Judgment, AND that in the Law the Lord had Provided a way of escape from that deserved Judgment, by the blood of an acceptable sacrifice designed to remove their sins against a Holy God, and legally bring them back into Fellowship with God. THAT, is something to weep AND Rejoice over. They wept over His Love, and they wept over that Love as a way of escape from sin. Law, can ONLY show that you’ve broken it, but the Mercy and Grace also found in the Law can show a Way back to Fellowship with the Giver of the Law. They only knew a yearly (plus) sacrifice to cover sin. Today, we can Know the One Time Sacrifice made to COVER ALL SIN, once and forever, and His Name is the Lord Jesus Christ, the One and Only Son of the Living God. KNOW this, BELIEVE this, OBEY this, and, Be Blessed.
